Our Teeth Whitening Treatment Overview
Teeth whitening treatments have become increasingly popular during the last years. There are several reasons why many are choosing to whiten their teeth. Whatever your reason might be, our dentist will provide you with several treatment options.
Take-Home Whitening Trays
Take-home whitening trays are a type of teeth whitening procedure that you can perform in the comfort of your home. This is an easy and cost-effective teeth whitening treatment. Although they can be a convenient option, obtaining great results may take longer than an in-office treatment. These trays are custom-made and whiten your teeth through a special gel that is found on the inside of the trays.
Theses trays, once made for you, can then be taken home as a teeth whitening kit, along with the guidelines given by our dentist. The time that they must remain on your teeth can vary according to your particular needs.
How Take-home Whitening Trays Work
These custom trays are made of a clear plastic that comfortably adjust when inserted. A small dollop of gel is inserted in each tray, giving them their whitening properties. The gel consists of a hydrogen peroxide solution that actively whitens the enamel of the teeth.
After they have been used and are taken off, they need to be cleaned with a Q-tip or a cloth and rinsed. Typically, you should wait one day between each application.
These whitening trays can be used several times to obtain the desired results. Our dentist can further advise on how many times they should be used in your case. Also, you can have them customized to your needs.
Zoom is a bleaching process widely used to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin. Tooth discoloration may result from drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine, or from smoking. The aging process also can stain and darken your teeth. The Zoom in-office tooth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp – to accelerate the bleaching process – to activate the 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.Read more about Zoom!
